Morning Brief — Monday, August 25
I spent Saturday night glued to the TV watching the men’s marathon (while scarfing down three pieces of pepperoni pizza, Doritos and Chips Ahoy. And a Skinny Cow because that cancels out all the other junk, of course.) Sammy Wanjiru made history as the first Kenyan to ever win an Olympic marathon — and break the existing Olympic record of 2:09. And he did this in 100-degree heat. And he sprinted to the finish. I was disappointed, though, that NBC only showed U.S. marathoners Ryan Hall and Dathan Ritzenheim a handful of times and never showed Brian Sell. Granted, they weren’t running in front, but that was still pretty crappy. Anyway, the Olympics are now over, so we can now all get back to our lives / sleep / work.
