How to set up an RSS reader in two minutes — Part II

On Friday I posted some instructions on how to set up an RSS reader.  Here are some book review and literary blogs you can add to your reader to start off.  These are only a handful of important media/publishing blogs out there, but you can add these first and then add one or two (or more) sites a day to your reader.

To find more blogs, check each site’s blogroll (the list of web sites usually on the right side of a blog).  My blogroll, which is on the bottom right side of this page, includes all the media, publishing and some miscellaneous blogs that I regularly follow.

New book sections at Reader’s Digest

Michelle from Harcourt says Tom Prince from Reader’s Digest is adding two new sections in Reader’s Digest in the coming months.  They will be covering fiction, nonfiction, reference and art books. (Maureen Mackey will continue to handle excerpts and other book-related features.)  Send catalogs / books to:

Morning Brief — March 24, 2008

When I don’t get around to finishing my NYTBR — which of course is absolutely never —  I find Sarah Weinman’s weekly book review roundup on Confessions of an Idiosyncratic Mind quite helpful.  She summarizes the Sunday book sections of all the major American as well as UK papers.  Make sure to check her site every Monday morning to get a good sense of what’s been reviewed the previous weekend.

I pretty much love everything about computers and the web (except for Second Life which I just don’t get), but I can’t hide my head in the sand when the digital world isn’t doing so well.  E&P (that’s Editor & Publisher) notes that although the top 30 newspapers websites have seen an increase in traffic over the past year, the amount of time actually spent on the sites has decreased.  Check here for the stats.
